Apple has really changed the game and has been the pioneer at the forefront of mobile technology. With a plethora of apps just within your fingertips, the world has indeed become smaller thanks to the technology of Apple and iPhones. Now, more than ever, apps have been integrated everywhere. Not just on your phone, but on many different devices like your TV and even your refrigerator.

As a driver, there’s nothing more convenient than having all these powerful apps within reach while driving. This gives a lot in terms of quality of life and can really help make life easier for drivers. Cadillac has its own onboard software called CUE, or Cadillac User Experience. This is Cadillac’s own infotainment system and also has its own useful apps for drivers. Although these apps are useful alternatives to those on your phone. Some of us just can’t live without the apps on our phones that we use daily. Thankfully, you can still use the apps you love on your iPhone thanks to Apple CarPlay. And even more good news to Cadillac CUE users since Apple CarPlay is compatible with it.

Apple CarPlay takes the apps on your phone and beams them to your car’s infotainment system. In Cadillac’s case, apps will be beamed to the Cadillac CUE system. We all know that when driving, all attention should be on the road and even the slightest distraction can put you and everyone else on the road in danger. With Apple CarPlay, you can use your apps without having to take your eyes off the road, or your hands off the wheel.

What Can You Do With Apple CarPlay?

Apple CarPlay is the best way to seamlessly connect your iPhone to your Cadillac. With the use of Cadillac CUE, Apple CarPlay opens a multitude of quality of life uses for your phone while on the road. You can make hands-free phone calls with Siri, access turn-by-turn navigation with Apple Maps, stream and control your music with Apple Music, and get access to your favorite apps like Spotify and Pandora. With Cadillac CUE and Apple CarPlay, you get access to your favorite apps in a safe and easy-to-use format.

Which iPhone Models Work With Cadillac CUE and Apple CarPlay

Apple CarPlay works with the latest iPhone models up to iPhone 5 which was released way back in late 2012. So if you have any iPhones between the newest model to the iPhone 5, you can get access to Apple CarPlay and have it connected to your Cadillac CUE.

How to Connect Cadillac CUE with Apple CarPlay?

Pairing your Apple iPhone with your Cadillac using Apple CarPlay is easy.  You simply need to connect your phone to your Cadillac’s USB port at the front with the use of your phone’s provided cable. Once connected, CarPlay should automatically pop up on your car’s screen. Then all of your compatible apps should show up and update on the screen. If CarPlay won’t automatically pop up on your CUE’s screen, simply tap on the Apple CarPlay icon on your home screen. If you want to go back to your vehicle’s home screen, simply press the HOME button located near the radio.

To disconnect from Apple CarPlay, simply disconnect the cable and you’re done. You may also go through settings, select Apple CarPlay, then Manage Apple CarPlay Device, and select off to turn it off.

For those with newer Cadillac vehicles, specifically from the 2021 lineup, Apple CarPlay can be connected wirelessly. Sadly, if you don’t have a newer model, there’s no way to upgrade your Cadillac CUE system to enable wireless connectivity with Apple CarPlay.

Cadillac Cue and Apple CarPlay are a perfect pair to have access to all your favorite iPhone apps while driving. Just remember to always be safe. Although using apps through Apple CarPlay is relatively safe since you can access it hands-free. Never take your attention off the road to keep you and everyone else safe. As always, drive safe.
