The Uconnect 5 system, introduced in the 2022 Ram lineup, represents a significant leap forward in automotive infotainment technology. This latest iteration builds on its predecessors’ strengths while introducing new features and improvements that enhance the driving experience. But it’s important to note that since this is an upgrade, there will be features from your old system that won’t be compatible with Uconnect 5.Â

Important Info:
2019 – 2021 Ram Trucks looking to upgrade to the U5 System from the U4 System Should Be Aware of the following features lost when doing this upgrade:
SOS and Guardian Services will No Longer Work. So if you currently subscribe to the SOS or any features through Guardian Services such as Remote Start From Your Smartphone; these will be lost.
If you currently have and use a CD player that was supplied from the factory, it will No Longer Function, as RAM deleted the CD players in 2022.
Wifi Is Lost, so if you currently subscribe to a Wifi Plan through U-Connect, it will be lost.
Any 2019-2021 Ram Trucks with the Existing 12″ U4 Infotainment System will still require a New 12″ Touchscreen and Radio Module, along with the Required Harness Kit. The Existing Dash Bezel is all that can be Re-Used when doing this upgrade. You will have the old screen and radio that can be resold to help recoup some of the upgrade investment.

Install dificulty
It is very important to note that this Uconnect 5 Dodge Ram 12 inch screen upgrade does require in-vehicle programming, and Windows PC or Laptop for computer access at the vehicle IS Required. Note: Apple / MAC is NOT supported.
MVI will supply the necessary programming software and cables to connect to your vehicle, however, computer knowledge of installing software and necessary drivers are required. MVI will provide step-by-step programming instructions and tech support to assist in the process (tech support must be scheduled).
The programming process can be a bit tricky in some vehicles, so patience and tech support cooperation is a requirement for a successful installation. Please make sure you have a PC computer and have a good level of comfort in operating it before making this purchase.

IMPORTANT HVAC INFO
This upgrade does NOT upgrade you to Dual Zone Automatic Air Control. This is very important to understand if you are upgrading a Ram that is currently equipped with Manual HVAC. Â
The upgraded screen only comes as a DUAL Zone Auto Climate control, so if you are upgrading from Manual Climate Control, you will need to consider the Cabin Air Sensor Kit as an upgrade to add to the system. This added harness kit will give you Single Zone Auto Climate Control, and will allow you to control the air much easier. Upgrading to actual Dual Zone Auto Climate requires replacing a lot more components in the dash and is not something we support at MVI.Â
