All GM HMI and Radio Modules Vin Lock to the vehicle they are originally installed in and programmed to. GM does not support the use of used modules and would prefer to sell you a new comparable module to get your vehicle fixed, which can get rather expensive once you’ve paid for the module and service labor to install and program to your vehicle. Our GM HMI and Radio Module Unlock Service will allow you to replace that defective HMI or Radio module with a more affordable pre-owned or new module purchased from eBay, friends or other sources. With almost Two Decades of extensive knowledge and experience working specifically with GM Infotainment Systems, you can rest assured that your Compatible HMI or radio Module will be programmed to work correctly for your specific 2007 – 2020 GM vehicle. This GM HMI and Radio Module Unlock Service will require you to send your module in for the work; and with many in’s and outs to getting the correct module for your vehicle, you’ll want to be sure you are sending in a compatible module to work with your vehicle. GM HMI and Radio Module Unlock Notes:
This service will allow the use of a used or new un-calibrated module in your vehicle, and will remove any existing vehicle information from the module. The module will then be programmed with your specific vehicle information to allow for a seamless plug and play self install. This is a send in your module for vehicle specific GM programming service. If you prefer to purchase a module that is already programmed and set-up for your vehicle as a plug and play install, please message us using the Web Chat feature at the bottom of this page. Customer will be responsible for shipping the original module into MVI for the service, and MVI will provide instructions on how to properly pack and where to ship the module after checkout. MVI will be responsible for the insured shipping back to you after the service is complete.
When replacing your original module for operational concerns, its important you are confident that replacing the module will fix your issue. The only real way to fully know if a module is defective, is to have proper diagnostics and scans run by a shop with the proper GM diagnostic equipment and software. MVI will not be held responsible for misdiagnosed issues, however we can assist helping to pinpoint where the issue may be coming from. Custom Software for In-Motion:
If you prefer to take your infotainment module to another level of convenience and passenger entertainment, you may want to consider our Custom In-Motion Programming Service. This is service is for 2013 – 2019 HMI Infotainment 2 built vehicles and consists of our proprietary custom software, that will give you full functionality of the system without being restricted when in motion. This software unlock is full time, meaning you turn the key and drive the vehicle; no need to manually activate the unlock like our Add On Module solution. Our custom GM Programming also unlocks Equipped Vehicles for GM Navigation address entry in-motion, GM Factory DVD / Blu-Ray Video in-motion, and USB / SD Video In-Motion from the factory ports in the center console. In addition to lifting the factory in-motion restrictions we will also add additional USB Video formatting (DIVIX and AVI) that the vehicle never came equipped with (See notes below), for even more functionality!! This is a Genuine GM product that has been unlocked with custom software for full functionality; this is NOT an aftermarket product that is added to the vehicle. Vehicle can still receive factory software updates via USB once the unlock service has been performed.
Custom In-Motion Software Service Notes:
Product will take up to 2 weeks to ship depending on current order backlog. Please contact MVI for an up to date shipping time frame if you are looking to receive you module by a certain date.
2017+ vehicles will lose App Shop Functionality UNLESS you send your original module in for the programming.
This service will NOT add navigation to your vehicle, however our system does work with non navigation vehicles as well. Everything listed above will work on the Non NAV vehicle with the exception of navigation entry. If you would like to add factory GM navigation to your vehicle at the same time, we can do that as well. Video Notes: This service will not add the ability to play DVD / Blu-Ray if your vehicle is not equipped with option code U42. Vehicle must have option code U42 to play DVD or Blu-Ray Disc. Vehicles without the option code will have the ability to play video from USB thumb drive. Video content must be properly loaded to the thumb drive in the correct format and resolution size. This can be a tricky procedure if you are not already familiar with doing this type of tech work. MVI does not provide training on how to load content on flash drives, so make sure you are comfortable with that process before buying this service. Two options for this service: Send In Your Module or Module Swap. Please choose the service you desire in the dropdown selection box above. If you choose to send your original module in for the service, please be aware that your vehicle will not start and run with the module out of the vehicle. Customer will be responsible for shipping the original module into MVI for the service, and MVI will provide instructions on how to properly pack and where to ship the module after checkout. MVI will be responsible for the insured shipping back to you after the service is complete.
This product is intended for off-road use or non-driving passengers. Safe Driving Practices should be followed at all times.

- Adds addition Video Format Playback Options Including DIVIX and AVI (2013 – 2016 Vehicles Only / 2017 – 2019 Vehicles will be MP4 format only)
- Adds SMS Texting App (Requires setup and compatible phone). 2015+ vehicles system will now display or read your incoming text back to you while you keep your hands on the wheel.
- Optional Welcome Sounds on 2014-2015 vehicles (These happen when the vehicle has been sitting dormant for a period of time. When the driver door is opened and the animated logo comes onto the screen. Volume levels can be adjusted in the menu or turned off completely).
Added Accessory Options for the Custom Software In-Motion Unlock Only:
OPTIONAL SMART PHONE MIRRORING KIT FOR RSE VEHICLES
For vehicles equipped with Factory Rear Seat Entertainment Systems/Rear Seat Drop Down Screen(s) (RSE), a phone adapter kit can be added to the system, from the drop down selections above, to add the ability to mirror your smartphone to the screens of the vehicle with our smart phone mirroring adaptor kit. NOTE: 2017+ RSE vehicles, the phone will input through your O.E.M HDMI input located on the rear of the center console. Due to GM software the video may be reformatted by the system and not fill the entire screen when mirroring your phone.
If your Vehicle does not have RSE, Smart Phone Mirroring can still be obtained with our add on Video Input Module With Smartphone Navigation Display
Android customers please note: Your phone must have wireless screen mirroring capability, i.e Mirracast / Smart View ETC. If your phone does not have wireless screen mirroring capability a separate USB/HDMI adapter plug will be required to mirror the phone. MVI does NOT keep up with what Android Phones do what. It is customers responsibility to verify your Android phone has the mirroring capabilities.
2016+ vehicles Factory Rear Camera In-Motion Harness:
For the 2016 and newer vehicles; we now have the ability to activate the camera icon for in-motion rear view camera viewing. Extra harness (truck’s) or partial harness and hardwiring (SUV’s) required for rear camera in motion. This feature comes in extremely handy for viewing your back up camera as a “rear view mirror” camera while driving.
For 2014 and 2015 vehicles Rear Camera In-Motion can also be attained in your vehicle by using our Surround View Camera System or by upgrading to 2016+ equipment with our GMC CarPlay / Android Auto Upgrade or Chevy CarPlay / Android Auto Upgrade.
